General Information
Location: 
Cobden is situated just 8 miles off the Princes Highway in Victoria’s South West.

Population: 
Approximately 1,450

Climate:
Cobden offers a moderate climate, which is often influenced by westerlies. Temperatures in the town range from 4 to 16 degrees in winter to 7 to 28 degrees in summer with an average annual rainfall of 890mm. 

Retailing: 
Key businesses are a supermarket, chemist, clothing, furniture, gifts, newsagent, hotel, hairdressing, takeaway foods, hardware and B & B’s

Professional Services: 
The many professional services include medical, legal, real estate and financial. Cobden has three medical clinics with one attached to the District Health Services. The Corangamite Shire Development Board is also based at Cobden.

Education: 
Cobden has the only Technical College in the state, a playgroup, kindergarten and TAFE courses available as well as high school at nearby Camperdown. Hampden Specialist School, and Cobden also has a Primary School with a current enrolment of 240 students.

Law & Public Safety: 
In addition to the Police and St John Ambulance Brigade Cobden is serviced by Urban and Rural C.F.A members and a local State Emergency Service which is road accident rescue accredited. A Neighbourhood Watch operates in Cobden as well as a Safety House program.

Government Departments and Agencies: 
State Government Departments at nearby Camperdown include agricultural and rural Affairs, Community services, Conservation Forests and Lands and the rural water Commission.

Transport: 
Cobden is well serviced by Courier, Bus, Taxi and Rail Freight services.
Cobden also possesses an 1100 metre all weather air strip with Pilot automatic lighting allowing 24 hour access.

Community Groups: 
Cobden is an active town with a Rotary and Quota club, an Aero Club and Progressing Cobden Inc. There is also a Senior Citizens group, an R.S.L. Club Probus, SES, Red Cross, and Scouts.

Health Services:
Cobden has a District Health Service at 5 Victoria Street, Cobden offering a wide range of assistance to all persons in the town and district.
