Cobden's
Industry
Fonterra
The milk drying plant
which was built by
Fonterra in Cobden, is one of the largest milk drying
plants in the world. The Cobden Plant processes a vast quantity of milk
supplied by over 140,000 cows in the region. It is understandable
that Cobden is regarded as THE DAIRY CAPITAL OF THE WORLD.
Fonterra largely
paid for the connection of the natural gas pipeline from Port Campbell
to Cobden allowing for the upgrades to the drying plant.
Fonterra is also
the largest employer of local people in the district..

. CopRice
Stock Feed Mill
The mill opened in
Cobden in 1997 providing more support to the local farmers with the ready
availability of dairy cow pellet rations to assist optimum milk production.
The $ 11.2 million feed mill is a joint project between Pivot Agriculture
and the Rice growers Co-operative Limited, the mill supplies farmers
in Victoria's Western District and through to South Australia. The feed
mill is a state of the art fully computerized processing plant and will
produce 100,000 tonnes of balanced grain based stock feed pellets. Up to
20 people will be employed at the feed mill in areas of transport, maintenance
and office staff.

Truline was established
nearly 26 years ago by the late Bob King. Today with new owners Robert
and Catherine Marr this industry continues to produce high quality reliable
farm machinery for the farmers of Australia. With farmers producing more
silage and round bales of hay the need for the Truline range of equipment
has grown. Truline Post Drivers manufacture small and large roll handlers,
